ABOUT

Arcadian Atlas is a 2D isometric tactical RPG for Mac/PC/iOS/Linux about the choices people make in pursuit of the things they love, and the havoc it wreaks on a kingdom.

Watch your footing and mind the strategic vantage points as you traverse the richly detailed pixel art world of Arcadia -- A single misstep on the battlefield could cost you a friend’s life. Let the moody jazz soundtrack carry you through a thought provoking & ruthless story of love, deceit, murder, companionship and war. Meant to be a fresh take on the classic strategy RPG style, Arcadian Atlas was designed from the ground up to incorporate more challenging battle strategies, new & balanced job classes, and more cutthroat plot twists that'll leave these complex characters' lives hanging in the balance.

Featuring dynamic job classes, a rich character driven narrative, strategic grid-based battles and a jazz infused soundtrack, Arcadian Atlas is a lushly handcrafted 2D isometric tactical RPG that takes the rich history of the genre and makes it fresh.

  1. Why is there no comments here? So when will this be out, and will it come DRM free to humble/gog? I am already buying it right now, I just have to know where, when and how much! ;^D

  6. I'm gonna assume it's not, but I really hope this turns out to be multiplayer.

    1. There aren't any current plans for a multiplayer component, largely because we want to focus on the core single player experience first. We're definitely going to feel out down the road a multiplayer component makes sense though.

  7. The style of Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics!? I've been waiting for a game like this! You had me at that line, but including better strategies, new and balanced classes and the darker subject matter for more mature audiences... I'm hyped up and seriously looking forward to this game!

You certainly chose one of the hardest types of games to make as your first. Developing an RPG is no small feat, though I suppose using RPG Maker helps a bit there. Will you make a postmortem of your game so other devs can learn from your successes and mistakes? And are you open to other people joining your team? Did your non-founding members join out of passion for the project or did you have to hire them?

As a player, I say thank you for making a game like this! As a fellow indie gamedev, I say best of luck to you, I hope you find great success! :D

    1. Thanks Luca! It's actually not our first game, though yep it's certainly ambitious! And we're definitely looking at doing an in-depth dev blog as we go through and following up with a post-mortem once we're all wrapped up. It's one of our favorite genres, so it's a bit of a passion project to be sure.

And as for the non-founding members, it's a bit of both. We certainly compensate them for their work, though passion for the project is what brought them to us, and we couldn't be happier with the talent we've got backing us up! Reach out in Twitter as well and we'll follow back! We love hearing from other indies, and it's definitely a field where we benefit immensely from community.

  10. been seeing the things you guys put up on twitter and had to check out the site, it looks so fun and detailed, can't wait for you guys to have it out :)

  11. Let me get this straight:
You have a team skilled enough to make a presentable game.
Yet you waste that skill on the most boring, overdone genre and the story is generic at best.

    What a shame.

P.S. So basically all the guy contributes is the lame story? Seems to me like your brother is just holding you down.

    1. Hi "Anonymous," thank you for your feedback. I understand you feel you are now an expert on the ins & outs of Arcadian Atlas's plot thanks to the 1-sentence elevator pitch found here, but I assure you the story is full of exciting twists & turns not found in another RPG title.
As for questioning Taylor's contributions to the project, it is fully a 50/50 partnership and the workload is shared equally. There is a lot more that goes into making an RPG than just art, plot, programming & music, (though those are most visible from the outside) and Taylor and I share all these tasks. Admittedly, sometimes I myself feel Taylor shares a larger amount of the brunt than I, so to say your assumption is wrong would be a bit of an understatement. Hope this helps to clear up some misconceptions!

    1. Hey hey! We don't currently have plans for those tools, though hopefully as we develop more of the programming framework we'll have the ability to. So for now, it's a hurry up and wait situation :D

  15. Hi to the crew of Arcadian Atlas.

I would like to introduce myself as my birth name describes it so,
    Jeremie Babin.

I have been a gamer my entire life, began working on small projects of game development at the age of 15 and ended up completely leaving that domain 3 years later, having realized that it demanded a great amount of perseverance and knowledge. While all I had, was a passionate heart for entertainment and enjoying the outcome and the result of that which would eventually be shared with others.

However, as time went on and life progressed, I came to study Theatre for Youth at University and gain work experience in the Sales industry.
Putting those two together, it has allowed me to discover within me a desire to speak of what I love in a manner that is meant to inspire others to love what I love and participate in it.

I recently discovered an absolute delight in the entertainment form known as “Streaming”. Offering the possibility to communicate with the present audience while offering them content that is either new to their knowledge, or that is like a sweet fragrance of a distant memory bringing forth its voluptuous juice of pleasure. (I know it’s a very crude manner of describing it, but it pictures very well the essence of what I enjoy in entertainment).

And so, since I have been streaming, I have also been looking forward to speak of Games and present games that are not known, creating a Hype that will become a new scale for measuring games and bringing in future customers and gamers and so on. I have been enjoying reading what Becca has been posting on twitter, reading up on the game and getting to know it under its different aspects and evolution. I am looking forward to present this to my followers (though their numbers may be very little for now (around the 22*). I would like to offer a partnership with you in that where I would present the new content w/ or w/o you present over a VoIP form, whichever you would prefer. I do not know if you have considered this approach, have been contacted by another streamer or have already started the process of creating this hype program for sharing the game and its content.

If you are possibly interested in this partnership, you can contact me via email and afterwards, depending on the direction of the discussion, we can see if Skyping would be the next step to take.

I thank you for your time and am looking forward to hearing from you,
    Sincerely,
    Jeremie Babin.

    1. Hey Jeremie!

Thanks for the offer, and we really appreciate it! We don't yet have enough of the game in playable demo format for streaming, but we would love to talk more when the time comes for a demo/beta release of the project!

Streaming is a great way to share your passions for a project, and we definitely have plans to get Arcadian Atlas into streamer's hands when it's ready. It will still be a few months out, and while we cannot commit at this time to a partnership program, we'll certainly keep your details for when streaming is right for the project!

Appreciate you and the work you do!

      Taylor

    2. Hey Taylor!

Thanks for getting back to me so soon. What I was wondering mostly is that, I do not necessarily need the game itself to begin to speak about it. I am definitively looking forward to the day where I can play this, that is ABSOLUTELY going to be a huge thrill for me.
However, at this stage, understanding a little bit more about where you guys stand, what I was mostly curious about, was knowing if I can use the content on the website in order to slowly begin mentionning it in my Gaming Talk Shows programs.
I've been talking about different Indie games that have yet to come out such as Pantheon - Rise of the Fallen and so on.
The same as you, while their game is not yet out or even close to it from what I got, I was still able to create some sort of original content with the little bit of information they've given us via their website.

I'm a content creator, =) What I do, is take what people have and show the worth of desiring something that is not yet existant.
      haha, =)

And thanks for the appreciation! I'm very excited to see what you guys come up with in the near/distant future!

PS: I am considering Cosplaying one of your Characters (Becca's) for the different upcoming Events here in Montreal. I'm very thrilled to see where this partnership will lead. (for me, Partnership is not so much about the money, but simply what I can bring you in terms of hype and giving me the opportunity to be noticed and mentionned by you.)

    3. Oh, of course yes you can use content from the site if you like, just so long as it doesn't infringe any of the typical copyright laws (like no monetary gain or use of the content for sale) - but yep that's totally fine, and we definitely understand the need to create and getting excited about projects! :D

  16. I've been watching you guys for awhile now! I'm very glad to see how far you've come along so far! I wish you all the best as you move forward in production.

I also hope you guys get a chance to eat and sleep still... so please take care of your health!
